FIFI ON THE ROAD: Disney's Vero Beach Resort

My family and I have been coming to Vero Beach, FL since I was a little girl. Vero Beach is our "second home" and I have many happy memories there.
Just when I thought my favorite beach couldn't get any better, In 1995 Disney opened up a "Vacation Club" Resort there! The resort was the first Disney Vacation Club Property to be constructed outside of the Walt Disney World Resort area. Here are some photos of the resort.
It has Deluxe Inn Rooms with ocean and garden views, Studios, One-Bedroom Vacation Homes, Two-Bedroom Vacation Homes and free-standing Three-Bedroom Beach Cottages with ocean side views of the Atlantic.
There is a Mickey Mouse-shaped swimming pool, flanked by Pirate’s Plunge pool slide. The pool is surrounded by Port Holes Miniature Golf (a nine-hole Peter Pan-themed miniature golf course).

There are four dining options: Shutters is a full-service casual dining restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.  We have enjoyed several Character brunches and dinners there!

There is also Sonya's, which is a formal dining room that features steaks, chops and seafood. Then you have The Green Cabin Room which serves drinks and light fare in an Old Florida bar atmosphere, with additional seating on a deck overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Live music is often featured during the evening.

Bleacher's is the poolside quick-service food and beverage counter with a refillable mug station.
A welcome addition to the Resort is their new Spa! In addition to all the pampering you could ever want, I was especially happy to find that they offer a sizable Spa Cuisine Menu.
The spa menu includes some tasty snacks and cocktails. Some indulgent, and some healthy, but everything sounds delicious! Below is a photo of a very happy patron, savoring her Caribbean Rock Shrimp Ceviche while receiving a pedicure.
Our family decided to have a drink and a snack at the Green Cabin Room. Even though it was a bit chilly, we enjoyed the outdoor seating overlooking the ocean.

We sat indoors afterwards and enjoyed the cozy decor and comfy seating.

Here is a pic of our awesome waiter, Aaron!
Amongst the food we ordered, there was a spicy shrimp cocktail, fresh tomato pizza, an Eco-tini (came with a cool little Gogi-bean bracelet) and a Key Lime Coconut Martini. All we could say was yum, yum, and more yum.
As if the food, libations, and view were not enough, there was an amazing harp player in the lobby, playing some of our favorite songs.
It was beautiful. We could have stayed and listened to her play all night.

Disney's Vero Beach Resort is only one of the many wonderful things about Vero Beach. If you are looking for a lovely Florida getaway, Vero Beach is one of the best kept secrets of the East Coast.
