High Tea at the Ponte Vedra Lodge and Club

Hello Darlings!!! Today's post is all about a wonderful little experience called "High Tea".  It is offered everyday, 3pm at The Ponte Vedra Lodge and Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
In order to enjoy this complimentary taste sensation, you need to do one of three things:
1) Join the club
2) Attend as a guest of a club member, or
3) Be a registered guest of the Lodge and Club Hotel.

My wonderful in-laws, Jim and Barbara Carter, are members of the club, so we are fortunate enough to attend High Tea whenever we are visiting them in Ponte Vedra. We love it! So I am going to tell you all about it, Foodie Friends! I guarantee you will get some fabulous planning ideas for your next party!

First, you are warmly welcomed by two fine gentlemen at the lovely entrance to the Club. As you enter, it feels grand yet cozy, with the ocean just steps away...

The lobby is spacious with lots of comfy seating and fresh flowers.
Then its time to head up the stairs, just in time for high tea!
Piping hot water is ready and served in lovely silver. They offer a variety of teas as well as iced tea and iced water for those not looking for a warm drink.

I love the little teapots! You bring them to your table after you have chosen
your tea and hot water. After steeping for a few minutes, just pour and enjoy.

Next comes the best part! They serve tea sandwiches, scones, and
desserts on a triple tiered server! It's simply delectable!
(I'm just trying to sound fancy, ha ha)

By far, my favorite tasting treat are the homemade scones! I spread a little
lemon curd on top, close my eyes, and suddenly I feel as if I am on
 an episode of Downton Abbey...
We did a little research, and it is traditionally called "High Tea" because it used to be served on high or tall tables. I'm guessing the more modernized version is to serve the treats on tiered servers or cake pedestals, thus making them "High".

Needless to say, the view at The Ponte Vedra Lodge & Club is
delightful, even on a dreary day! I hope you enjoyed learning about "High
Tea" as much as I did! Ta Ta for now!

FIFI ON THE ROAD: Disney's Vero Beach Resort

My family and I have been coming to Vero Beach, FL since I was a little girl. Vero Beach is our "second home" and I have many happy memories there.
Just when I thought my favorite beach couldn't get any better, In 1995 Disney opened up a "Vacation Club" Resort there! The resort was the first Disney Vacation Club Property to be constructed outside of the Walt Disney World Resort area. Here are some photos of the resort.
It has Deluxe Inn Rooms with ocean and garden views, Studios, One-Bedroom Vacation Homes, Two-Bedroom Vacation Homes and free-standing Three-Bedroom Beach Cottages with ocean side views of the Atlantic.
There is a Mickey Mouse-shaped swimming pool, flanked by Pirate’s Plunge pool slide. The pool is surrounded by Port Holes Miniature Golf (a nine-hole Peter Pan-themed miniature golf course).
The Grand Lobby

Private Beach Access
There are four dining options: Shutters is a full-service casual dining restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.  We have enjoyed several Character brunches and dinners there!

There is also Sonya's, which is a formal dining room that features steaks, chops and seafood. Then you have The Green Cabin Room which serves drinks and light fare in an Old Florida bar atmosphere, with additional seating on a deck overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Live music is often featured during the evening.

Bleacher's is the poolside quick-service food and beverage counter with a refillable mug station.
A welcome addition to the Resort is their new Spa! In addition to all the pampering you could ever want, I was especially happy to find that they offer a sizable Spa Cuisine Menu.
The spa menu includes some tasty snacks and cocktails. Some indulgent, and some healthy, but everything sounds delicious! Below is a photo of a very happy patron, savoring her Caribbean Rock Shrimp Ceviche while receiving a pedicure.
Our family decided to have a drink and a snack at the Green Cabin Room. Even though it was a bit chilly, we enjoyed the outdoor seating overlooking the ocean.

We sat indoors afterwards and enjoyed the cozy decor and comfy seating.

Here is a pic of our awesome waiter, Aaron!
Amongst the food we ordered, there was a spicy shrimp cocktail, fresh tomato pizza, an Eco-tini (came with a cool little Gogi-bean bracelet) and a Key Lime Coconut Martini. All we could say was yum, yum, and more yum.
As if the food, libations, and view were not enough, there was an amazing harp player in the lobby, playing some of our favorite songs.
It was beautiful. We could have stayed and listened to her play all night.

Disney's Vero Beach Resort is only one of the many wonderful things about Vero Beach. If you are looking for a lovely Florida getaway, Vero Beach is one of the best kept secrets of the East Coast.
